Adobe Acquires Antepo

This is Posted by: David Coleman

Based on rumors on Monday, January 8th from several sources we heard that Antepo (New York City) had been sold to Adobe for $7M.

Other analysts that cover this space (Mike Gotta of Burton Group) had speculated that something like this might happen.

[More:]

Antepo's claim to fame is that it supports both XMPP and SIP, and also now offers VoIP. The price of $7M is pretty low (fire sale) in terms of what Antepo's valuation might be. There is some speculation that Antepo VC's want to get their money out and forced the sale.

Acquiring Antepo is a good move for Adobe, in that it helps them to extend Adobe Acrobat Connect (formerly Breeze) and add additional real-time collaborative functions to their document-centric approach. It also helps Adobe on keeping up collaborative feature parity with Microsoft and IBM, and may offer a way for Adobe to connect to Vista messaging (through SIP) but to offer more (XMPP) than what will be available in Vista.

Interesting. Now maybe we can actually get some support for OPN. Oh wait, that would require someone to actually answer the phones. This may explain Antepo's lack of response for the past several months.

I worked @ Antepo for about two years.
My only good words are for their server from technology stand point.

Top management, with exception of CTO, are bunch of pricks.

If you need support for OPN system I can help you out.

It has always amazed me how major tech and software players can snap up multi-million dollar goodies like a fat lady in a cookie factory. http://www.cathetel.com.
