Day two of the New York City transit strike. As workers struggle to get into the city, WebEx saw an opportunity.
Build It and They Will Come
WebEx recognizes that organizations without employees cannot conduct business. Therefore in a brilliant marketing play, WebEx has offered their WebOffice collaboration service free for 30 days to New York based businesses (see http://www.weboffice.com/nyc). As a hosted suite of Web-based services, the business needs only to register on the WebEx site. Users need only a browser. (Organizations should be prepared to quickly educate their employees on how to access and use the technology, as well as how the business process may change.)
An overall acceptance of collaborative technologies will grow only if the technology supports “anytime, anywhere” human interaction naturally, i.e., the technology doesn’t “get in the way.”
If the transit strike lasts “long enough,” a sizeable number of companies take WebEx up on their offer – and WebEx delivers a natural experience for the average worker –WebEx will be seen as a leader. Quoting their Web site, “Who knows, it may be the best thing that ever happened to you and your business.”
This is where the Collaborative Strategies analysts make observations and comments about the dynamic collaboration technologies market. You are welcome to write back to us by posting your comments at the end of this blog.
