Site down for 4 days
For those of you that visit this site regularly, the site was down from Saturday until Tuesday. Not for any reason we were notified about, but because of a fire inspection at the data center where our server is. Someone mistakenly turned on the fire retardent system, which wiped out quite a few servers. Those that wre not wiped out were locked down. The failover back-up did not work, and so we were without service.
My webmaster Cliff, was tearing his hair out, as he had many clients on that server and all of them were down. On Tueday he finally negotiated moving our server to another facility in Seattle (the wiped out one was in Utah). So we are back up again.
Lesson learned, don't always believe them when they say back-up and mirrored site, read the fine print. I think you will be surprised...we were!
Coming up:
A new podcast will be posted on Metrics for Collaboration
A review of the recent Virtual Edge show
Data from the survey we did with Allcollaboration.com on the current state of Collaboration
As always, we look forward to your participation and we are striving to make this site as interactive as possible.

David, so what's a girl to do? Really, there are alwasy those moments that nobody could foresee or plan for. I'm curious to know how Cliff could move sites that were down because the server was. I'm glad you have such a great techie team that can do such things. May we all be so lucky should our time come.
Glad to see you are back up.
I hope collaborate.com never goes dark again. I guess my web master Cliff, is trying to make sure that happens, and we don't end up in this situation again. I can't wait to see all the law suits West Host will have.
